The Story of Bottled Water, released on March 22, 2010 (World Water Day) employs the Story of Stuff style to tell the story of manufactured demand—how you get Americans to buy more than half a billion bottles of water every week when it already flows from the tap. Over five minutes, the film explores the bottled water industrys attacks on tap water and its use of seductive, environmental-themed advertising to cover up the mountains of plastic waste it produces. The film concludes with a call to take back the tap, not only by making a personal commitment to avoid bottled water, but by supporting investments in clean, available tap water for all.

I buy five 3-liter jugs of purified tap water a week when I'm at my house in the mountains because there's lead in the house's water system and re-plumbing the house is out of the question. That said, I do enjoy laughing at the hipsters with their Ethos or Smart Water or whatever the hell's "in" these days. Smart water to me is water that won't kill me. If it comes from a tap, so be it. It's not like I pour said jugs over my head in the shower! (and they're recycled locally, too).
I totally agree with you that bottled water is wasteful and a source of pollution. However Washington DC had documented lead in its pipes. In order to reduce lead they added an acid to the water supply which Brita admitted their filter is unable to remove. This acid is known cause of kidney damage. So I am back to bottled water after using filters for years......
Guys we won't be ever able to throw this system away so we just need to know what happen and go on, futhermore it is not so bad I mean I have studied to live in this system I am industrial engineer.
@ultimatecombat You really just proved my point though. You have to swallow more than is used for brushing in order to be poisoned. If you don't believe me, look at the toothpaste article on fluoride alert dot org (who are against water fluoridation).
Notice that it says the average toothpaste for children has 143 mg of fluoride in it. A 9 year old would have to swallow the entire tube for it to be fatal.
