JOHOR BARU - The parents of a teenager who ran away from home claim that she has been negatively influenced by a "boyish" friend she met online.
Form Three student of SMK Desa Jaya 1 Joscelin Heng Shin Han has been missing from home after leaving for school on March 8.
Her father, Heng Buck Liang, 41, said he and his wife Chean Saw Tin, 38, went to search for her on the day she went missing after one of Joscelin's friends informed him she was seen at the Plaza Angsana shopping complex.
"We failed to locate her at the shopping complex and made a police report at the Skudai police station that night," he said, adding that Joscelin could not be reached on her mobile phone.
Buck Liang said this at a press conference held by Gelang Patah DAP Wanita chairman Ng Siam Luang on Friday.
Meanwhile, Johor Baru (North) police chief Asst Comm Ruslan Hassan urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999 or the nearest police station.
